It's time for bed
Hunting high and low
Where's my Chewy
Mom wants to know
She looks in the bathtub
And under the chair
It's Baby and Tiger
But Chewy's not there

Deep in the dresser
Or up on a shelf
At the computer
My sweet natured elf

Is he under the bureau
Or under the bed
Back in the closet
Dear god, is he dead

Is he out in the field
All alone in the dark
Or next door digging sand
In the neighbourhood park

Or down by the lake
Where's he's slipped
And he's drowned
My adorable Chewy's
Just got to be found

Darn, where's that squeaker
Now what will I do
Search through the armoire
The flashlight's gone too

Quick to the kitchen
Look under the sink
What's in this drawer here
I-I need time to think

Heart in my throat
Pounding fast in my head
The drawer filled with vitamins
Has become Chewy's bed

Curled atop bottles
Is the one I've searched for
Chocolaty Chewy
In my vitamin drawer

I cradle him gently
He's dead deep asleep
This soft silly wee one
I've promised to keep

I kiss and kiss him
God's life to care for
Carpet hole digger
And pooper of floors

Dear Jesus I thank you
For blessing me so
And now to bed
Chewy and momma must go
