Like many people I had often thought that I would one day attempt this ride but getting all the necessary factors to come together at once was unlikely. Having the time off work to do it, the finances, the understanding of your partner and of course the fitness rarely seemed to co-exist within the same year. However all the planets seemed to align in my chart this year and I decided now was the time.

After a little research I found out that a lot of research was required. Fortunately there is a lot of information about this particular feat and I found the most useful site located at http://www.users.waitrose.com/~ianclare/lejog1.htm

If like me you read practical advice from other websites and think yeah...whatever, then I deplore you to heed some of my advice as having done the trip I realise some of the things I was a little too Blase about.
